Lighthouse

This Grand Haven attraction, established in 1839, consists of two lights on the south pier, both painted red and connected by a lighted catwalk that also connects them to the shore and the Boardwalk. The inner light is cylindrical and the square outer light stands on a huge concrete foundation. On pleasant days, people stroll the boardwalk that borders the Grand River channel and the pier. The U.S. Coast Guard Station-Grand Have is responsible for maintaining this light and 15 lighthouses on the West Michigan lakeshore. For information and history on the Grand Haven Lighthouse, visit the Tri-Cities Historical Museum. (616)-842-0700

Musical Fountain

Downtown Grand Havenís synchronized display of water and lights on the harbor is one of the great things to do every summer evening at dusk. Special performances are also scheduled during Tulip Time and September. Best viewing is from the Waterfront Stadium at Washington Street and Harbor Drive, Grand Haven. For Waterfront Stadium Events, call (616)-842-2550.

Board Walk

2 1/2 miles along the Grand Haven Harbor, lined with shops, restaurants, marinas, and charter fishing boats culminating at the catwalk and pier, the Grand Haven Boardwalk is a great place for a brisk walk as well as a great place to take advantage of the grassy knolls and benches for those who prefer taking it easy and watching the people and boats listing lazily on by.
